Detailed tour description:

We start our boat tour in Chiquila with a trip through the lagoon of Yalahau. First we will head to a cenote-likels fresh water source in the middle of the mangroves. The clear water we will find there comes from an underground spring, here you will get the time to bath in the refreshing water.

On the way to Holbox Island you can observe various bird species, such as pelicans, herons, cormorants and ospreys. Between May and November we might be lucky to also spot some flamingos.

Enjoy a walk in the shallow water at the so-called "passion island", climb up to a viewpoint tower and enjoy the view over the turquoise water.

On the island Holbox we have golf cars available for 1 hour to drive around the island. While driving through the "centre" we can admire and photograph the colourful little houses and the countless wall paintings.

After the lunch at the beach you will have some free time to stroll through the little town.

Then our boat takes us to our last stop - a sandbank, where you will enjoy bathing in the flat water and having one or more drinks before we head back to Chiquila.

Important information:

In exceptional cases, after heavy rainfall, we may not be able to drive the golf cars ourselves and may have to resort to golf car cabs.

Since February 2020:

The hammocks in the sea on Holbox island have all been removed without exception for environmental reasons.

Don't forget to take with you:

  • swimwear, towel, sunglasses, sun hat, sandals (no sturdy shoes required)

  • long-sleeved t-shirt for sun protection

  • biodegradable sunscreen

  • change of clothes (to change before the return trip)

  • maybe camera

  • money for personal expenses and tips where applicable, e.g. for our drivers and captains
